Survey: Retirement and Planning

Before you reach the age of 50, retirement is a concept. After 50 it is a reality. And it is damned uncomfortable for most of us.

In October 2008 I wrote a series of articles about financing retirement. Those articles generated huge responses. The arrival of the current recession took me down a few other (emergency) avenues. It's time to get focused on this subject again.

This survey has no right or wrong answers. It has just one BIG question. I'd really value you answering that question with a couple of details, including your age, job, etc. This is the kind of thing I am looking for:

I am 51, male, married, and live in Ringwood. I am self-employed. I am not sure if I will have enough money to survive retirement.

I don't quite know how to calculate how much I need either.

I have some Retirement Annuities, and a pension, but I don't trust the numbers my insurance company is giving me.
I will read each answer individually. Then I will use some clever software that extracts the concerns raised most often. And then I will start writing about the top issues first.

You may remain anonymous. If you choose to share your name and email address I will share the results of this campaign with you. I will also share the writing and ideas that develop as a result of this survey.

You can stop my emails at any time with just one click at the bottom of any one of them. I will never share your email address. And I will not waste your time.

Once you've done the survey, please check out the Retirement Project pages here. They include calculators to make sense of the numbers, and a bunch of detail (in words of one syllable) from a neutral fellow not selling life assurance products..

What are your BIGGEST concerns/issues/worries/fears about retiring?

Pring And Conditions for Business Warriors

Business Warriors has been an invaluable asset when dealing with the "unknown quantity".

If you come across a problem that you haven't had before, don't know how to deal with it, or don't know who to turn to - BW is the answer.

Pose a question and you are sure to receive loads of helpful responses. More often than not, your problem has been encountered by others and the answers can be found in one of the forums and you don't even need to pose the question...

Albert has been a long-standing member of BW but not used the site at all. With tough times around it's time to connect wherever possible!

I have thoroughly enjoyed and used Pete's Weekly ideas thus far.

I am therefore looking forward to the power of the community and to share and receive both ideas and connections.

I have followed Pete and his many pieces of wisdom over many years.

As a non-warrior ( they were not in existence then)

As a warrior

As a non warrior and now as a warrior again.

Logic simply tells me that a bunch of like-minded individuals can achieve so much more than being a "lone fighter".

Business Warriors gave me the opportunity to participate in a planning session with the Department of Trade and Industries to give inputs regarding BEE and small business which resulted, I believe, in the decision to regard businesses with a turnover of less than R 5M/a as BEE compliant.

The forum gave me the opportunity to ask for inputs to find good suppliers of products and services.
